And in truth, it isn't. On the other hand, I finally finished with it about an hour ago, after a fair amount of fiddling at the bar Monday, and then starting up a marathon session around 8:00pm on Tuesday. So around 10 hours or so.
Normally the process is pretty straightforward. In this case, unfortunately, I was dealing with a used, out-of-print disc. More specifically, one with quite visible holes in the metallization layer. I had to read it on a couple of different drives just to keep some of the music from coming out... well, it would be a new meaning for "scratched.'
Much massaging, hand-repair, and pieces merged from different scans. But it's done now, and I can consider that "sleep" thing.
Dunno about doing it, but I can certainly consider it.
