Julz and Dana were there, busily doing little activities.
Poor guys. I mean, I'm one of Paula's various volunteers, but it's always so sad when I see another couple of people succumb. Especially during that initial work-your-ass-off phase, before you realize that the reward for doing favors for her is another list of favors.
So almost all the fan lights have been taken down. The place looks a lot better, except after dark, when it looks even darker. When I said something, Paula muttered about getting new lighting in a few days.
In order to save a tiny bit of electricity, the bathrooms now have IR sensors. So if you're using the bathroom at the bar, try to ignore the fact that you're walking into darkness. Don't spend too long in the men's stall if you like light.
And hold your nose. The same switch controls the exhaust fan, which means that it's no longer on all evening.
Several more tables have been refinished, there's enough fabric on the "Sexy" light to keep it from being too bright, and there's some edging paper in the women's bathroom - and soon to be in the men's. They've been quite busy.
And there's another one of the bar lights dieing, which is in my volunteer bailiwick...
Anyway - the show. I got enough people to start by around 8:30pm, and started into what ended up being a fairly lively evening. We made what I consider "normal" for a Sunday, which hadn't happened for 3 weeks. Tips were a bit low - princesskiti22's boobs were positively lonely.
It was the first time tenshinigami's been there in forever, qzar_mystik came out for a second show in a row, which is unheard of, Keri brought her friend Paola from SoCal, who seems quite nice (and has a nice voice).
We had a new guy, Trevor, who sang pretty well, and seemed like the gay ideal of beauty. I certainly had enough guys drooling over him. He put together an envelope, so it seems he's planning to come back.
Some cekyr0 and jeffercine, a visit from the always sexy (if finals-frazzled) hektikat, and in general just a bunch of people. It was never even close to "crowded," but definitely enough people to keep it lively.
Until 12:30am, when most of the room went home. And foxypinkninja and kizmet100 showed up from stormmonkey's birthday party, Elly in a short skirt, and Maggie in a dress. In fact, Maggie was somewhat gothed up. 'Twas cute.
In the end, 7 rotations, including the short one I shoehorned in between 1:35am and 2:05am.
A quick shutdown, and then I took an exhausted timenchanter off to supper at IHOP and eventually home. He just wasn't up to driving, so Fawkes is still at the bar.
I made the mistake of having popcorn shrimp for supper, with the fairly predictable result of not much sleep last night. On the upside, I got around to paying some bills, and the bar website is back in operation. The images on the front page don't rotate (yet), but at least one doesn't get a pageful of error messages.
And the front page events are back up-to-date.
Right now, I'm going to give up on sleep, and try to get my tired ass to the bank before it closes - I have this huge check to deposit. Hopefully, also some Costco in there. A few supplies are running out.
