Well, and Jack. I haven't mentioned Jack. Steven's been bringing in his dogs. Last week was an abortive visit by Ennis (too nervous), Sunday we got to meet Lucy, and last night he brought in Jack. It's been a lot of fun.
So, what with the shorter rotation, that meant I fit 11 into the night before quitting at 1:50am.
Looking back on it, I was actually doing not too badly in song selections. Well... I'm not sure they liked them, but at least they mostly sang them. Which, from where I sit in the booth, is a success right there.
I was packed up by 2:20am, then followed Timmie home. He wasn't sure he'd stay awake for the whole drive. He did, or at least simulated it fairly well. I unloaded the car, then went to Denny's (there's one nearby), where I vegged until near 4:00am.
Then home, and unconsciousness.
I woke up around 11:00am, and have been trying to get myself to disconnect from the net and, like, y'know, get up since then, without much success.
This post being my latest bit of procrastination.
Speaking of which - I actually did a little bit of writing for the karaoke web site on Sunday afternoon. I believe I've found out why I've been putting such a simple project off.
I suck at it.
Really, I can write reams of this sort of crap, but actual, cogent ad copy? Not so much. There's tons I can say about karaoke, and my attitude towards it, what I have, what I can do, etc, etc - until I'm staring at actual composition. Then it all runs out of my brain and puddles on the floor.
Add to that an overly Anglo-Saxon "don't brag" attitude, and I'm left staring at the blank page like an australopithecine confronted with a lawnmower.
OK, on to the next delaying tactic...
