Thursday, I have no idea what I did during the day. Sleep is a high likelihood.
That evening, the bar would have been near-empty, except for sylvan's party. I started around 8:45pm, mostly due to a comparative lack of people, did a 5 person rotation, a 6 person rotation, then just 3 more before the end of the night at 1:50am.
So from a people point of view, it was a really great night - lots of people, lots of life, fun, and good songs. We even had an early supersniffles playing hooky.
From the bar income point of view, it was the same as a fairly blah Sunday. Apparently a large fraction of the crowd didn't even have the grace to buy bottled water. I mean, I'm grateful for the crowd, and the $4 in tips, and the extra income it obviously provided.
But if all our Thursdays were like that, the bar would likely be forced to close.
Anyway. Cindi was a little toasty at the end of the night, so Timmie and I took her out to Denny's, and had the usual good time. Then home, and some sleep.
Friday I was at the bar around 2:30pm to help bluize with setup for the Black&Blue. For most of the afternoon, it was just me, writenwrong, and Marty helping her, so I think I made a bit of a difference. In any case, it meant we actually had a semi-decent light setup for the evening.
I'd brought a change of clothes, but when Timmie showed up, he gave me the shirt I wore for the evening: "So many right-wing Christians, so few lions." Definitely a winner.
The evening itself was pretty awesome. Gabrielle, the MC, had almost too much fun (And seemed to fall in lust with my mic). We had much go-go eye candy of both sexes, including candiddani and chargerboy. markobellydance was excellent, as usual, and the dancer from S.F. Boylesque was amazing.
It was a general consensus that the suspension show, while interesting, took too damn long. For the future, any demos need to be completed in around 15 minutes.
In contrast to Thursday, the bar take was astounding. I may have even seen Paula crack a smile.
I was a little groggy by the end of the night, and staggered through gathering up my equipment, including the black wax spattered case covers, the two extension cords, and the mic cable that had been stapled to the wall.
Then we went back out to Denny's, this time with ginger_ruetabby, tlsthatsme, and drewkitty. Odd having a girl hanging on either side of me. Tobi, for the record, is an excellent kisser.
Then home, unloading the equipment, and more sleep stuff. I was back up at noon, ostensibly to visit my parents. I was ready to go by 2:00pm (my usual speed), except that I suddenly remembered some disc stuff I needed to do, which delayed me quite a bit...
I made the mistake of loaning out a disc - something I'm not going to be doing anymore. It should have been perfectly fine - and legal. It was going to be used between shows, and I should have had it back in my hot little hands before I needed it legally for the next show.
That was a couple of months ago. I learned last week that not only was it gone, but now is broken. So not only have I been in contravention of the law for a couple of months, I now have to remove that disc from the catalog. I have alternatives for most of the songs, but still - it sucks. Given that the other time I loaned out a disc, it came back (again late) looking like it had been kept in someone's back pocket, I'm done with loans.
In any case, I happily sat until 4:00pm looking into replacement discs, contacted the person about cost, and then realized that I was supposed to be up to my parents', then back in Campbell by 6:30pm.
Then decided to go ahead and make the hour visit anyway. I was on my way when the 'rents called to tell me to not bother - the wind was so bad that they weren't sure the road would stay open.
So I went to Fry's.
Then home to pick up the Timmie, and off to Sonoma Chicken Coop. Nice little group, once everyone showed up around 7:15pm. For one thing, my cousin Beth made it, which is a rare and wonderful event. But we also had Lisa, koc_hex, Marko, Leila, celticnoor, and vanillaspice. We broke up at something like 9:30pm, at which time Timmie, Daniel, and I headed up to Bootie.
There we met up with cybrenn and trivialt, as well as people they were with whose names I sadly forget.
Definitely a fun night, though I was saddened by the lack of Smash-Up Derby. I was hoping for my Trixxie fix.
On the other hand, the DNA Lounge now has an absinthe bar, which made me a happy camper. A very happy camper. Turns out Kübler has a damn fine product.
And there was one show - a performance to "Gimme more shoes" of Britney vs. Kelly. Definitely interesting watching a Kelly impersonator dancing on stage. And the girl they had representing Britney was a good dancer - and damn hot. Not to mention that I'm pretty sure one of the Britney back-up dancers was the same guy from Boylesque that performed at the Black&Blue.
Towards the end of the evening, Timmie was pretty toasty. OK, very toasty. At which point he struck up a conversation with the hottest redhead in the place, not to mention dancing with her boyfriend. Anyway, we all ended up exchanging info outside, which was cute.
Then the three of us in my car headed out in search of food, ending up at Orphan Andy's for some good diner fare, then back down the peninsula to home.
And apart from writing this, I've been asleep ever since. And now I'm late to the bar...
