The Sunday show was amazing - definitely the busiest we've been in quite a while. We started a little late, because I'm a flake, but ran until just about 2:00am sharp, where I had to cut off in the middle of the 4th rotation.
Heck, the first rotation was something like 26 people long. We had a number of new people, including the Jeff, Karen, and Eme trio, who will hopefully be back - they're a very good match for the place.
The very edible
And, obviously, quite a few other people.
There was a little friction because of the rotation length, but not too much. And we even had quite a bit of dancing. It was a very, very fun night. Even with Shawn hanging on me and whining that he wanted to sing a second song.
Afterward, I dropped by
Then Cindi and I had ourselves a nice dinner at Carrow's, then home, and eventually some of that "sleep" stuff.
But not much, because I was going to be picking up
As it turned out, they were coming in around 6:00pm, which worked out reasonably well. After the usual plane delays - and delays due to torrential rain - I got them home, then got to the bar at about 7:50pm. Late, but heck, it's not like I had any singers.
Still, I tried to rush through setup, with the result that I knocked my keyboard to the ground. And broke it. This made things a little tricky, as I've found running a computer system difficult without a keyboard and mouse. (Annoying (but generous)) Bob went home and loaned me a keyboard, and Paula let me borrow the mouse from the computer in the office, so I was able to get things working.
Of course, by this point it was 9:00pm, and I still didn't really have singers. Bob sang three songs, Kris sang one, then, well, nothing.
So we had the four of us going for a while. When J left around something like 11:30pm, I told Timmie we'd run until I'd finished up 12 rounds, then give up and go home.
But Cindi had called
In fact he tipped me extremely well. I should threaten to close at 1:00am more often. Those last 3 rotations made bank.
So, yeah, a pretty dead night. Still, while the bar income was a little low, it was far from terrible. And with Sunday included, it was a very good weekend.
I was closed down by 2:30am, then the four of us went and had a leisurely dinner at Denny's. Then home, and keyboard shopping. I'm a little picky, since I want something with an integrated pointing device and a smaller form factor. I eventually found what I wanted, determined it would likely be in stock at MicroCenter, and crawled into bed at 9:00am.
Which was about the time Jasmine called, to see about the help I'd offered. I put her off until after 5:00pm.
I hadn't heard from her by 5:00pm, so I went out shopping, with Timmie in tow. They didn't have what I was looking for, but did have something else that looked good - for $110. It hurt, but I bit the bullet.
We grabbed some food at Taxi's, then popped by Central Computers, so Timmie could play with the Eee. They of course had the keyboard I was originally looking for - for $50. I'm still debating. The one I've got is nicer, but I'm not sure it's $60 nicer. I'll probably try it out, just to see how well it works.
Then a stop at Guitar Center, where I got a new mic condom for the wired mic, then home. I'm still waiting on Jasmine - she called to say she'd be available a bit after 10:00pm.
So, a profitable weekend, somewhat marred by equipment loss. I was planning to buy a couple new discs, too, dammit.
