Nuthin' But A Hick Town

When I first moved back up here from the LA area, over two decades ago, one of the items of culture shock was the fact that laundromats closed. Every single one I knew of down there was open 24 hours as a matter of course.

The ones here closed at midnight.

Time passed, I got a house with a washer and dryer, then another one, and now I'm back to using laundromats.

I just walked back from the one around the corner, because it apparently locked its doors at or before 9:00pm.

All the time I've been up here, San Jose has complained about how no-one takes it seriously as a large city.

I suspect the complete lack of urban environment might be a slight clue.
