That, of course, was the result of my general inertia, my net addiction, and the simple fact that I really didn't wanna. Going through that place takes a huge amount of energy out of me, for whatever reason. I'm sure there are several - I've always hated moving, for one. The fact that I have nowhere to put the stuff I get is another. And frankly, the smell, which is a combination of rotten food, litter box, dog, and failure, is pretty bad.
In any case, I treated myself to dinner at On The Border instead, then made my way to KoC for the Monday show. I'd say it was a slow night, except that, well, it's Monday - what do you expect?
I've had busier, and I've had a lot slower. Bar income was definitely adequate, if not spectacular. The Sunday/Monday total was around 10% below average. In other words, a reasonably normal weekend.
I had fewer problems with people not singing what I gave them than usual, so I guess my selections weren't too bad. I had more trouble with people just not singing - Eddie wasn't feeling it, so he dropped out for an hour or two, and sjgrrrl had a little problem with hiccups.
The average round was somewhere between 8 or 9 people, and I ran for 14 before closing at 1:40am. I'm going to have to check the figures - classically, I can do about 7 songs in half an hour, and frequently only 6 on suicide nights. It looks like I may be able to fit in 8 with the new system, even with suicide. This is a good thing.
dwo convinced John to come out and try suicide, and I think I did OK finding him songs. At least he seemed to know a good fraction of them.
I managed to find yet another way to screw up - I was killing a program, and accidentally killed the player instead. In mid-song, of course. The player is no longer nestled in the upper-right corner of my screen...
In any case, we had a good time - heck, even supersixy mostly did suicide - and then I closed up shop, survived getting the equipment back in the car, and had some supper at Denny's. Then home, unloading, and sleep.
I've been up for a couple of hours now, and haven't been too productive. I've ignored one phone call so far today - possibly from the AMC guy. The number seemed familiar. I'll probably check on who it was once I get dressed. That always seems to make me feel more able to deal with things.
Or at least it's an excuse I can use for putting things off...
