I dragged him off to dinner at Fresh Choice (We needed energy, right?), then we moved a few things to the as-yet-unnamed new place. Two truckloads of books, and his bed. In fact, enough that he's spending the night there.
I should probably start packing up the books in my room, too. Actually, packing up my room in any way would be a good thing.
In the process, I decided to test the new phone service that was connected on Saturday. There are three phone jacks in the apartment. None of them registered a dial tone.
So I hunted down the junction box, unscrewed the "customer access" level, and plugged my phone into the test jack for line 2. Dial tone. So I called the new number. No reaction.
About then I noticed that line 2 runs directly through the wall into the landlord's kitchen. I'd just disconnected his phone...
Anyway, the test jack for line 1 was as dead as the jacks in the apartment.
So when I woke up around 2:30am this morning (after passing out in my chair), I logged onto the SBC/ATT web site and eventually succeeded in putting in a trouble report (Remember, kiddies: You can't add the service to your account until you get the first bill, and don't make the mistake of logging in if you're complaining about a number not on your account, mmm'kay? We'll keep state around from when you logged in just to make sure you keep it in mind).
They'll be sending a technician out sometime during working hours later today. Which means I have to be there. Which kinda works with the whole DSL thing, because the DSL modem is also scheduled to be delivered sometime today.
But doesn't work with the fact that I'm tired, and probably would sleep for 8 hours if I fell asleep now...
Looks like I get to pull an all-nighter! Ummm, all-dayer? Get to burn in the light of the cursèd daystar? Something like that.
