Too bad the only customer in the room was
By around 8:40pm,
In a little bit I had a few more. But the night never got what you'd call "busy." In fact, the bar made about a third of its usual income for a Sunday.
Just too many partied-out people.
Still, it was a really good time. Keri was there, for one thing. For a good part of the evening, we actually had more women than men, which seemed... odd. Certainly far from bad, but odd.
I had a bit of a run-in with Lily. Paula is very nervous about noise - we've gotten a huge number of noise complaints from the hotel, and there's been some indications that her cabaret license (which is up for renewal shortly) simply might not be renewed. This would kill the place. After one particularly loud number (I can't control
I pointed out that the karaoke shows have only gotten one noise complaint, ever, and that was because the side door had been left open. I, uh, may have been a bit forceful in my presentation...
Anyway. I finished up at 2:00am, after making it about halfway through the 9th round. I had another slight run-in with Lily there, too. As long as we have the cabaret license, it's mostly important that we have the drinks picked up by 2:00am. We're not as forceful about that as we should be - we could get shut down if caught with any - but we can have people in the place. I used to close the show at around 1:30am - sometimes as late as 1:45am. Given the financial state of the place, I try to do my bit to encourage consumption up to the wire.
I think Lily wanted to go home.
I got out of there are 2:45am, dropped Synthia off, and relaxed for a while at Mini Gourmet.
Then home, and a bit of sleep.
Today I was supposed to do move-related stuff. Especially around the renting of a debris box bit. Instead, I've been jumping every time my phone rings.
I get like this sometimes. Little things - especially tasks that have been put off - make me panic. It's stupid, but there it is.
So instead I've been wrestling with video conversion, which has been acting, well, strange. Converted files will seem fine, then suddenly slow down for several seconds, followed by a hurried catch-up. A quick web search indicated it might be disk fragmentation, so I've been working on that, which takes a while on a 4/5 full 320Gb disk.
Fun fun.
Anyway, need to clean up, and find out what the post office is holding for me. Since I'm already in panic mode, part of me figures it's something from the ex-wife, throwing a wrench into the process that will ultimately benefit her. That would be an unreasonable thought, if she weren't so damn good at it.
