We made it an early night, with the intention of getting up early today. Which I did, due to the time change - I was actually in and out of the shower before Stuart or Frida started stirring.
Then some minor playing on the net until Frida cooked breakfast. Then more delays & tribulations as we all figured out what to do, along with Sabrina's sudden - and intense - plan to make a guitar using a cardboard box and rubberbands.
Stuart and I went out and replaced Frida's car battery, then we let Frida rest and took Sabrina off to historic Fort Takapuna, which was having a sculpture show. This is the only place that was particularly photogenic today, so:
First off, one of the rare pictures I have of Stuart and Sabrina, with Sabrina in a not-too-atypical pose.
The underground entrance to Fort Takapuna itself, which was hosting a rather fine display of children's sculpture.
There was actually some interesting sculpture on display in the main grounds.
And some beautiful coastline, of course.
We took Sabrina through the children's sculpture display. She liked seeing the stuff from her school, but in general wasn't impressed because (1) she thought the fort was gloomy, and (2) she couldn't find supplies for her guitar.
So we left there, and headed to a hardware store. I now have a dedicated power adapter for the laptop, and Sabrina got her supplies, such as they were. One of the clerks also tried to reinforce the "neck" of the guitar so it didn't fold over, with limited success.
Then to a little breakfast/lunch place, where we all had some food, and Stuart & I brainstormed over the guitar - eventually figuring out how to string and even, to some extent, tune it.
This allowed us to be serenaded for several hours by Sabrina, who is quite ingenious at coming up with odd little songs accompanied by twanging. Stuart is considering voice lessons, which is probably a good idea.
Then back to the house, and what might have been some relaxation, except relaxation around Sabrina is... difficult. Frida eventually told her I needed a nap, allowing me to hide in my room for a bit. Hence this post.
Speaking of which, the babysitter just showed up. Which means we'll be able to go out on the town shortly. I'm expecting I'll be quite entertained, one way or another.
