Further Friday Fun

After I left the lawyer yesterday afternoon, I went and played chauffeur for chargerboy, who needed to run a couple of errands (including getting painkillers from Kaiser), and whose car is in the shop.

Gabe makes me humble. The level of drama I've maintained here is nothing compared to an average week at his house.

The oddest thing about that little excursion was running into people at Kaiser. Apparently Jessica works there, now. I haven't seen her for maybe two years - here's a picture of her from early 2004:

She was still as lovely, though considerably less drunk. She also seemed quite happy, which is a very good thing.

And monsieur swanhart was fighting for some records in one of the offices we had to visit. Apparently Jessica's office...

Anyway, because of the number of errands, plus the wonderful Silicon Valley Traffic™, I didn't make it to CCF until 6:15 or so. However, I was saved terminal embarrassment yet again by the wonderful spawrhawk, who kindly arrived later than I did.

It was a small CCF, as they go - the other two members of the group were misswong77 and entropyca. Not that I'm complaining - excellent people, and excellent conversation, as always.

From there I went home to rest for a little bit, then bounced back out to the ever-lovely wissavix's party at Sherwood Inn. It's always interesting to go back to a "normal" karaoke show. I keep forgetting how blessed I am with good singers. Also good songs. I swear half the entertainment for part of the table was watching me cringe as certain songs started.

It was certainly a blast from the past. One of the singers (who I unfortunately didn't remember) recalled me from Creekside - though he did keep calling me "Larry". One of the other singers was Larry - I think his last name is Yip. He apparently was running the show at Creekside while Kathy was at the Bold Knight, and is presently doing the Cardinal Lounge.

We shared a few war stories about Eddie (the asshole bartender-of-doom at Creekside). I also was told confidentially that Kathy is at a very low point in her life. One piece of evidence is that she's allowing the (gasp!) f-word in her show. I've just gotta visit Creekside again, now.

I also breathed a slight sigh of relief when Larry's group left just before Gabe sang the Ballad of Chasey Lain.

In separate news, I got a call from mena_kissesoh1 last night. She's out - and probably sleeping at the house right now.

And that, apart from waking up this afternoon too late to visit k_magic and intrusting's party, is the story for the last day. I need to clean myself up a bit, and head to the parents'.
