How Bizarre

Last night slowly turned into a very odd night. I can't quite put my finger on it, though it was partly because I was tired.

At least I assume that's why I made decisions that had both timenchanter and cekyr0 calling me an asshole from across the bar. Actually, Alex made sure to specify that I was a bastard asshole.

It's not true, though. My parents had been married for 13 years when they had me.

I even got some harsh words from kizmet100. Well, harsh like "You're not picking songs well tonight." Maggie doesn't really do "harsh."

When trivialt showed up, I said hi, then completely forgot about him until he came up to ask why he wasn't in the rotation.

Then there were the girls. I don't know where they came from, but we were invaded by Diana's birthday party. A bunch of 20-something very cute, very straight, and shortly very drunk girls.

Yes, the bar did well last night.

It's also the very first time I've had a cute, drunk, young thing stagger up to me and loudly ask for a song while I was singing.

Still, all-in-all, everyone seemed to have a good time. I ran until 2:00, and then we did our best to herd them out the door. This was actually easier than I expected, so by 2:10 I believe we had the doors shut.

Afterward, Timmie and I went out to Carrows for some late-night nutrition.

Then home, and some level of unconsciouness. I did the irritating "Wake up just before noon" thing again today, but was able to get myself back to sleep by 2:00.

So I haven't been up for all that long at this point. I'm busy stuffing myself at the Cheesecake Factory, and then we'll see.

In other news, I've now had two successful auctions. I'm of course trying to find other items to sell, too, 'cause $5 every 3 days does not an expansive lifestyle make. The interesting thing is that I seem to be about to get into lamps and home furnishings.

I was going to be selling multi-tools and knives. But the "faux gay" is stronger than I thought...

i rather enjoyed your selections for me last night, as was denoted by my laughter. thought it was a good mix and i'm still chuckling over 'grow for me'.

Yeah, I'm pretty happy with what I picked for you.

You're actually one of the easier people as far as song picks are concerned. I just need to remember to push a little bit out of the comfort zone, or else it's just boring for all involved.

I was chuckling myself when I pulled "Grow for Me" out of the bucket...

pushing the envelope is fun, as long as i have some clue as to how the song goes. ;)

That is the point. I do my best to pick songs I think people will know.

I fail a lot, but I'm actually amazed by how well I do. Everybody has considerably different experience in music.

Oh, it's bad. I've been selling purple desk lamps, and I'm about to try selling Tiffany lamps...

I've been selling purple desk lamps

And YOU DIDN'T TELL ME?!?!?!?!!!!1111!!!SHIFTELEVEN!

Well, yeah. I've been trying to avoid the whole "market to the friends" thing.

I may be selling on eBay, but doing the AmWay schtick makes me a little uncomfortable.

Just go to eBay and search on "purple desk lamp". I'm one of the 13 there - and the only one with the classic adjustable arm.

Of course, a lot of the others are pretty cute...

Glad I wasn't too harsh on you. I was trying to pick my words carefully.

It was the first night in a long time that I've gone through a stack of discs trying to find one you'd sing.

I was obviously a bit off.

Meanwhile Timmie and Alex appeared to be trying to figure out if I should be drawn-and-quartered, or merely crucified.

Re: Eh.

For clarity's sake, I called you an ass, not an asshole. And that was largely for your benefit as I know how much you enjoy being evil. The complaint about Jamie O'neil was because I honestly don't think it's a good thing to keep in there...I'm tired of shredding my throat on it and it's not one many people are going to have heard.

Thanks again for a lovely evening! *hug*

Re: Eh.

Glad you enjoyed yourself, dear! HUG!
