timenchanter and cekyr0 came to my rescue: They were going to Splash. So I had my first Splash experience in weeks.
Man, things are slow all over. It certainly wasn't dead, but it also wasn't the lively place I'd come to expect.
Fun group there, though. spawrhawk, and Marin, an extremely hot high school friend of his. And mr_seed, of course.
Sang a couple of songs, came home, slept, the usual.
Had a hard time waking up. A remarkably hard time, even for me. Around 11 or noon I started getting messages from Trudi asking to borrow $20 for bus fare this week. Well, I'm not sure the term was "borrow."
I responded yes, then went back to sleep. Apparently I didn't give enough of a positive response, and she got a little, well, pissy.
A couple of hours later she got her mom to give her a ride to the house. I was at least upright by then. She was in quite a fine mood. If anyone looked at her they were "staring." A picture of her had fallen over in my room - I'd done it on purpose. Almost anything said was an insult.
It was... entertaining, in an odd way. Her mother changed her plans and took off, which amused me.
I initially managed to get her out the door, but she came back, and we started to talk. I mean, I did get a word in edgewise here and there.
I discovered that Mena's "assault" was an incident a few weeks ago where Mena was complaining about Trudi washing dishes. According to Mena, she told Trudi that sort of behavior could "get your ass kicked out of the kitchen" in lots of households. Trudi claims it was "get your ass kicked", and accompanied by in-your-face behavior from Mena.
Knowing Mena, knowing Trudi, and considering the fact that Trudi didn't call this little incident "assault" until something like a week later - a week in which she seemed to get along fine with Mena - this is the Mistress of Rationalization doing yet another job of twisting reality to her ends.
She offered to end our relationship, which I think any sane man would have accepted.
Of course, I didn't. We kinda, sorta, didn't really work a few things out. I gave her a ride to school.
Managed to make it up to Alameda rather later than planned. Got there just as the sushi was being unboxed.
Had a pleasant evening. Frida's depressed, since Stuart will be gone for 8 days. I'll have to see if I can make it up there some more.
Saw a weird and fairly crappy Japanese-Polish film called Avalon.
And now I'm headed back home.
