I Forgot...

Apparently, during the timenchanter/J&D altercation last night, they claimed I had never been helpful to them.

Apparently, the time spent teaching them how to connect to the house audio and video systems, coming in on an off day and emptying out the closet for them, announcing them as KJs when they sing, and putting them on the website - none of that is being helpful.

I mean, I can somewhat understand them not counting my running a separate cable to the large flatscreen, and installing a filter, so they could do a show through their unfiltered baseband connection without the 60Hz hum from hell. They don't necessarily know that it didn't really affect me too much.

Heh.

Boo on them, boo!

Hiss! Hiss!

However much you do it will never be enough for people like them.

I can even recall Brucie sending business their way. The fact is they don't remember anything that he's done for them. It's not that it's not enough, they just don't even see it as help.

It makes you wonder what exactly they *would* consider help? Donating a kidney? I suppose that could be kinda helpful...

To be fair to both of them, they do a lot at the bar. The relative usefulness and necessity of what they do (as well as the rate of production) are debatable, but if nothing else it is nice. When one is doing so much to help others, especially when one feels ensuing entitlement, it is difficult to see what anyone else might be doing for you. It's understandable, though crass if you ask me.

One of the amusing things to me is how much Julz honestly thinks she's the first person to try to help Paula get out of this "temporary problem."

Every now and then I've gotten a stare of blank incomprehension from one of my "been there, done that" comments.

And yeah, she's hitting the entitlement bit big time. An almost managerial level of it, one might say.

At this point, they'd consider it an inferior kidney, with little to offer in the way of proper waste processing.

Maybe you could be helpful by saying something nice, but honest, in the CL ad. Something like:

"Come by and hear a totally unique sound. I bet you won't find any other professional KJ using a sound like theirs."

or

"Come to their karaoke night so you can sit back, relax, and be entertained by the stories they love to tell. No one can talk and talk and talk like they can"

See. That's positive. Right???

I did, in fact, just repost the Craigslist ad, with minor changes, as I had discussed with Dana.

The digs are subtle, but I expect Dana to pick right up on them, since she already was upset by the previous ad.

She found that my taking superior sound for myself was insulting (good thing she doesn't know what her customers are thinking), so I promised to move the "sound" comment into the previous paragraph.

In the process, for rhythm, I needed to add more things I prided myself on. So the relevant parts of the ad went from:

We have a roomy dance floor, comfy booths, a pool table, and, of course, a full bar.

Sunday, Monday, and Thursday are hosted by Bruce of Kor Karaoke. He prides himself on excellent sound, a friendly attitude, and an extensive song list, which you can check out for yourself online.

Tuesday and Wednesday are hosted by Julz of Get Up and Sing karaoke. She doesn't have the same online bells and whistles as Bruce, but she puts on one hell of a show!

I don't need this feud to spill over onto Craigslist, so it's cheerful, honest, and positive.

However, the twosome will find it terribly insulting, since I'm complimenting the bar's sound system, and now bringing equipment into it as a contrast.

'Cause I do have pro-level equipment, as opposed to the cheapie stuff they do, and I do know how to use it. Hell, I even know not to set up speakers directly behind the singers...

LOL.

Subtle as a brick upside the head, but still positive.

Gotta love ya, Brucie.

Still...ya gotta appreciate my backhanded comments. Go to kareoke to sit back and listen to the hosts talk for hours? loves it! It's ok to plead the fifth. LOL
